Must-see monuments

After Paris, Bordeaux is second in position for the town with the most listed monuments !  The hotel is ideally located for exploring this beautiful city which is a listed town of art and history.

Saint-André Cathedral

Saint Andre Cathedral, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, was blessed by Pope Urbain II in 1096.  It was redesigned in a Gothic style from the 12th to 16th centuries.  The cathedral is open to the public for tours everyday except Monday morning.

Pey Berland Tower

Pey Berland Tower (15th century) is the belfry for Saint André cathedral.  It is also a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.  After climbing the 231 steps to reach the top of the tower you can admire the breathtaking view over Bordeaux.

Palais Rohan

This archiepiscopal palace, a symbol of the grandeur and power of the Archbishops of Bordeaux in the 18th century, became the imperial palace of Napoleon in 1808, then in 1835, the "hotel de ville" (town hall).

Place de la Bourse

Once known as Place Royale of Bordeaux, Place de la Bourse dates back to the 18th century.  This square is the most magnificent example of neoclassical architecture which epitomizes the elegance of 18th century design.  The reflecting pool is the largest in the world covering 3 450 m². 

Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux

With its beautiful Neoclassic style façade, the Grand Théâtre is the pride of the inhabitants of Bordeaux.  Designed by the architect Victor Louis and officially opened in 1780, the Grand Théâtre is today the national opera's HQ (opera season and performances of the Opera Ballet).
